Since 2023, Professor Prasanna Sooriakumaran has worked with Avegen Health as Lead for Urological Innovation, playing a central role in the development of a dedicated digital health platform designed to support men recovering from robotic prostate cancer surgery. This work reflects a broader commitment to improving patient care beyond the operating theatre, with a focus on recovery, monitoring, and long-term outcomes.
The app has been specifically developed to guide patients through each stage of their recovery, providing structured support, education, and progress tracking following surgery. By combining clinical expertise with digital delivery, it aims to improve patient engagement, enhance understanding of the recovery process, and support better overall outcomes. The app and its development were the subject of an invited lecture at the British Association of Urological Surgeons annual conference, reflecting growing interest in the role of digital technology in improving surgical recovery and patient experience.
In July 2025, Professor Sooriakumaran was appointed Lead Clinical Advisor in Men’s Health for Emerald. In this role, he is involved in the development of next-generation approaches to preventative men’s health, using artificial intelligence and data-driven insights to identify risk earlier and support more personalised care. This includes the integration of wearable technology and individual health data to create tailored health strategies that are specific to each patient.
